Hanging Plates?

We have been trying to figure out a good solution for some decorations in our living room and we could never seem to find the right thing that both of us agreed on....so when we were on our date last Thursday we saw something that caught our eye...yes both of us thought this would be a great solution for one of the walls in our living room and then quickly decided that it would look good in our kitchen as well....so here it is....  I loved the look of these plates and the little foam things they had stuck to them...we took this as our inspiration and went shopping the next day :)

We found some awesome plates for the kitchen and we couldn't have found a more perfect match for our living room...we love it!

so here was the process we choose how many plates we wanted to hang and had a rough idea of how we wanted to hang them...

here is my rough ideas :)

we decided on the one on the second pattern :) so as you can see i already had some newspaper ready and once we decided I traced the shape of the plates and made sure they were spaced out right...

I also marked where the lip of the plate was so we would know where to place them...now most people would us those wire plate hangers or those awesome plate discs but we dont have those here and really drilling into cement walls nine times just isn't that fun...(all of our walls are made out of cement here the whole house is built like that)... so we opted for some awesome 3M tape stuff...

These are pretty strong...and don't worry we tested it out before we did the whole wall...no chance I was going to be woken up in the middle of the night to nine plates crashing to the floor....so next we attached our 3M tape to the plates and hung the newspaper on the wall....centered of course :)
Then I cut out little holes where the tape would go...and my awesome hubby stuck them all on the wall one by one :)

and this was our final product :)

What do ya think? I love them and the green is the perfect pop of color that our brown and tan living room needed :)  and 3 days into it no plates have fallen off the wall...so our next project the plates for the kitchen wall :)  I'm super excited to do that project :)

Oh and if you didn't get the notice we are expecting our second little bundle of joy in september so I'm sure I will have some baby projects on the way once we find out what we are having :)

thanks for reading

My awesome find...

Here in Manila we don't have a Joanns but we do have fabric markets :) which is interesting and fun...now don't get me wrong we do have fabric stores but the fabric markets are way cheaper and you can always find interesting prints...I found these awesome fabrics.....do you recognize them?

Yup you guessed it... they are Vera Bradley....evidently the fabric is made here :)  lucky me that means there are leftovers :)  (i'm jumping for joy!!)  lol anyways  my living and dining area in my house is very bland at the moment and I knew it needed some color and this fabric is perfect....so I went to town and made these for that area :)

this was by far the easiest sewing project I have done so far....all you do is cut our rectangles of the fabric and  of batting and then sew them together.  Then you cut one very long rectangle out of a coordinating fabric to make the table runner :) and you are done :)

anyways just had to share with you as I am totally in love :)

DIY Nursing Cover

I spent a little over an hour making this it was so easy and it took me longer because I had a little helper at first :)
I somewhat followed this blog and the way she did it.  But here are a few pictures of the one I made.
cutting out the fabric with my little helper :)

he thought he had to lay on the fabric or sit on it...I'm not quite sure why
I hemmed all four sides and left the top side with open ends so i could put in the boning...

Then i attached the strap at the top on the end of the boning to hold the boning where i wanted it
and the did the same thing with the D rings
I am not nursing but I used a cover when I was and loved it....

this is going to one of our team members here in manila as she just had her first baby and has been using a blanket....which is fine and all but when those little arms start to move around more while you are nursing having something that is a little more secure is nice :)

Hope you enjoyed...this was super easy to make and would make a great gift for a new mom who you knew was going to be nursing...
